While The Scheme are a Seattle powerpop band, the roots of the group trace to the East Coast,
where David was co-fronting the band The Pills. The Pills were a band that focused on fast songs and
high energy. But, David was stockpiling songs that didn't fit the mold (or at least the non-stop tempo!).
So, he set out to record this varied group of catchy pop tunes with a band assembled from friends in
the Boston scene.
Now, fast foward a few months... David relocated to Seattle, and as luck/fate would have it,
Gary relocated around the same time. Having spent years in Chapel Hill, NC indie-rock band Gumption,
Gary was looking for a new hometown and also set down roots in Seattle. Both lived in the area for a
few years before connecting and setting out to complete the line up that would be The Scheme.
After an exhaustive (and exhausting!) search for a drummer, David and Gary were lucky enough to
find Chris, who had returned to Seattle after a long stay in the Bay Area and had recently left the
garage rockin' Zero Points. The trio is currently putting the final piece into place -- a fourth member
to flesh out the sound.
